Terms of Sale

Please read these terms of sale carefully.

You will be asked to expressly agree to these terms of sale before placing an order for products from my website. The continued use of this website and any orders placed will be subject to these terms of business, together with my Privacy Policy. Please:

  • Read these terms and conditions before placing an order;
  • Retain a copy for your records;
  • Read my Privacy Policy.

Ordering With Me

No contract will come into force between you and me unless and until I accept your order in accordance with the procedure detailed below.

To enter into a contract to purchase products from me, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Add the products you wish to purchase to your shopping cart, then proceed to checkout.
  2. If you are a new customer, you must either checkout as a guest or create an account and log in. If you are an existing customer, you must enter your login details.
  3. Once logged in, select your preferred delivery method and confirm your order and your consent to these terms of sale.
  4. If using PayPal, you will be transferred to the PayPal website, where PayPal will handle your payment.
  5. I will send an initial acknowledgment of your order.
  6. Once I have checked whether I am able to meet your order, I will either send you a shipping confirmation (at which point your order will become a binding contract) or confirm by email if I am unable to meet your order.

I am not responsible for any spelling errors provided in your order. You will receive an email confirmation, and it is your responsibility to check and ensure that all spelling is correct before the letter is written.

I may update the version of these terms of sale on my website from time to time, so I recommend downloading and retaining a copy of these terms for your records.

Before placing your order, you will have the opportunity to identify and correct any errors by reviewing the checkout page and amending your basket accordingly. You can remove items by clicking the "Remove" option under the "Qty" box on the checkout page.


Personalisation of Letters

I do not permit personalised letters to include any content or material that:

  • Is false, inaccurate, offensive, misleading, abusive, defamatory, or threatening, or that might cause needless annoyance, inconvenience, or distress to any person.
  • Misrepresents identity or impersonates any person.
  • Contains pornographic, obscene, indecent, or offensive language, including discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age, or that might incite hatred or violence.
  • May harass, upset, embarrass, or alarm any person.
  • Gives the impression that it emanates from or has been approved by me or any other entity without permission.
  • Advocates, promotes, or assists any unlawful act.

Price and Payment

Prices for products are quoted on my website. As there are a large number of products, it is possible that some prices may be incorrect. I will verify prices as part of the sale process so that the correct price is stated when you pay for your order.

In addition to the product price, you may have to pay a delivery charge, which will be displayed when you complete your purchase.

Payment must be made at the time of ordering. If payment is not received in full, I reserve the right to withhold the products and/or cancel the contract.

I accept payment via credit/debit card and PayPal.

Prices for products may change at any time, but these changes will not affect contracts already in force.


Chargebacks

If you dispute any payment made to me, you must contact me immediately and provide full details of your claim.

If you submit an unjustified chargeback, you will be liable to pay me the chargeback amount within 7 days following the chargeback date.

If an unjustified chargeback is submitted, I reserve the right to terminate any contracts between you and me by providing written notice.

For clarification, if you fail to recognise or remember a transaction and submit a chargeback as a result, this will be considered an unjustified chargeback.


Your Responsibilities

By placing an order, you confirm that:

  • You are legally capable of entering into binding contracts and have the authority to do so.
  • The information provided in your order is accurate and complete.
  • You are able to accept delivery of the products.
  • You are at least 18 years old.

Delivery

I will arrange for the products to be delivered to the address specified in your order.

I aim to deliver within 7 days for UK customers and three weeks for international customers. While I strive to meet these timeframes, I cannot guarantee specific delivery dates. However, I guarantee that all orders will be dispatched within 1–2 working days of receiving payment and order confirmation, except in exceptional circumstances.


Returns & Refunds

As per the UK Distance Selling Regulations, personalised items are exempt from refunds or returns unless they arrive damaged. Therefore, I do not accept returns or issue refunds if you change your mind after purchase.

By placing an order, you are entering into a contract agreeing to these terms.

If your order arrives damaged, please contact me within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos of the damage, including the packaging. If appropriate, I will arrange for a replacement to be sent at no additional cost.

You are responsible for ensuring that all details, including spelling, are correct when placing your order. A confirmation email will be sent after purchase, and I am not responsible for any spelling errors provided in your order.

If you need to report a damaged item, please email clare@handwrittencards.co.uk with your order details and photographs of the damage.

This policy does not affect your statutory rights.


Limitations and Exclusions of Liability

Nothing in these terms of sale will:

  • Limit or exclude liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence.
  • Limit or exclude liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Limit or exclude any liability under consumer protection laws.
  • Limit liability in any way that is not permitted under applicable law.
  • Exclude liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Your statutory rights as a consumer, which cannot be excluded or limited, remain unaffected by these terms of sale.

I will not be liable for any losses arising from events beyond my reasonable control. Additionally, I am not liable for any business losses, including loss of profits, income, revenue, contracts, goodwill, or anticipated savings.


General Terms

I will treat all personal information collected in connection with your order in accordance with my Privacy Policy.

I may revise these terms from time to time, but any revisions will not affect contracts already in force.
